(continued from here)
Sitting in the boarding area, Logan looked out one of the large windows, watching as planes took off and landed. In a way leaving London felt wrong- As though he was taking a time out from serving his sentence. Though working for Torchwood often felt the same way. He'd given up so much when he'd left America, convinced that it was for the greater good, and now- Now it seemed as though it had all been for nothing. Just one more fuck up in a long line of fuck ups.
He took solace in the idea that at least with Torchwood he stood more of a chance accomplishing what he'd come here to do, but that didn't really make it easier.
Glancing over at Jack, he hesitated slightly before speaking up. "What happens if there's no answers. No solutions?" he asked quietly.

He was content to just swim for a bit, enjoying the sun and the waves. For a moment he could almost pretend he was home.

Date: 2020-01-11 03:13 am (UTC)Jack swam around a bit, floated for a bit, then decided he wanted to try something he hadn't done in a long time.
He smiled at Logan. "I'll be right back," he said.
Then he dove down, down in the crystal clear water. The minutes stretched on and still he swam around the sea floor, obviously looking for something.

Date: 2020-01-11 03:21 am (UTC)Logan watched, not sure what Jack was doing, but he decided to get out of the water for a bit. Climbing onto the boat he dried himself off, looking back to the water to see if Jack was back up yet.

Date: 2020-01-11 03:26 am (UTC)The sun was going down and Jack was losing light down by the sandy bottom. He was determined, though, and e stayed down for what should be impossible. Inhuman.
He did eventually surface and in his hand was a shell.

Date: 2020-01-11 03:34 am (UTC)Logan watched and raised a brow.
"You know, if you wanted a shell there's a shit ton on the beach, man," he chuckled.

Date: 2020-01-11 03:51 am (UTC)"No, I wanted this one," he said, passing Logan a white shell with a pretty pink inside. "You gotta have a souvenir not everyone can get."

Date: 2020-01-11 04:00 am (UTC)Logan looked confused, turning the shell over.
"You gonna string it on a necklace or something?" he asked. "A shark's tooth would be way cooler," he joked.

Date: 2020-01-11 04:04 am (UTC)"I have one of those," he said. There was a sort of mystified hope in his voice. Jack was well aware it was likely impossible, but sometimes it was nice to think it could be as simple as jogging Logan's memory.

Date: 2020-01-11 04:12 am (UTC)"Of course you do," Logan grinned. "You rip it out of the shark yourself?" he teased, smacking Jack's arm playfully and then drying off the rest of the way.

Date: 2020-01-11 04:26 am (UTC)"I might've. You never know," he replied. He toweled off and went to pull up the anchor.
"I'm going to move us around the island a bit more," he siad then and, still dripping, walked into the wheel room.

Date: 2020-01-11 04:34 am (UTC)"Sure thing, Captain. I'm going to clean up this mess and head into the cabin to get ready for bed," Logan replied.

Date: 2020-01-11 04:39 am (UTC)He headed out a bit farther from shore, then followed the coast line around. There was a little lagoon with a deserted beach, but Jack couldn't take the boat in because of the reef. They could swim in, but the sun was setting and that was nothing Jack wanted to take on right now.
So he dropped anchor and they could hear the sound of the waves on the shore and the soft breeze shaking the leaves of nearby palms.
Jack got distracted by the sunset.

Date: 2020-01-11 04:47 am (UTC)Logan came out once they were stopped, wearing pajama bottoms and sitting down by Jack.
"It's beautiful, huh?" he said.
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 04:51 am (UTC)"It really is. And it never gets old," he said. "There's just something about sunset. I don't know...whatever," he shrugged. Then he turned to look at Logan.
"Huh. I'm overdressed for this party."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 04:58 am (UTC)Logan looked down at himself, then smiled. "I did say I was getting ready for bed," he shrugged. "Also, if this is a party we need to get you out more."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 05:21 am (UTC)"What, you think I don't know how to party?" Jack asked. "I bet you're quite a hit at your Navy shindigs, huh?"
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 05:31 am (UTC)"Not really," Logan admitted with a laugh. "I had a pretty bad reputation when I signed up. I think I was always busy trying to prove myself to them, even after they'd all accepted me."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 05:36 am (UTC)"What about now? Still trying to impress?" he asked.
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 05:41 am (UTC)"Maybe. I guess in some ways I'll always be fighting to get away from my past, and struggling out of my dad's shadow," Logan said honestly. "But being aware of that is half the battle or whatever. At least that's what my therapist would say."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 05:48 am (UTC)"Sounds healthy, it's probably right," Jack agreed with a nod. "You've changed a lot since seventeen."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 06:02 am (UTC)"I'm certainly not the douchebag the tabloids wrote me up as, but- Yeah, I guess. I mean I bet you're nothing like the way you were ten or twenty years ago."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-11 06:04 am (UTC)Jack nodded and gave a shrug.
"I had a moustache, he confessed. "It was a dark time with y2k and all that."
