Christmas was well in the past now, and Logan had settled into the new year. Things with Jack were- Well, they were as normal as he could hope, though things were still strange. There was no easy way to just get over learning some other him had lived some other life- With a man who was now his boss. Still, Logan had accepted that life was complicated, and he'd moved on as best as he could.

It was late now and most of the team had already left- But not Jack. Logan was certain the man never truly left work. Even when he said he was taking a night off, he was sure he was just working on something else. So after clicking off the lights in the record room he made his way to Jack's office, pushing open the unlocked door and leaning against the door frame.

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," he tutted. "Come on, we're going out," he decided.

Jack joined him, sitting with a good distance between them.

"Do you have any ideas? Adventure? Space?"

Logan clicked on the TV and started scrolling through movies, pausing when his Dad's face flashed up, then quickly scrolling by.

"Maybe something older," he said, wandering into the classics section and picking a western.

"Oh, I've seen this one," Jack grinned, settling in. It had been years- he'd seen it in the theater oh so many years ago.

Logan sprawled out lazily, passively watching the film, but mostly watching Jack.

Jack watched it with a soft hearted nostalgia. It seemed like just yesterday even though it had been about fifty years. A whole lifetime for some.

Eventually, though, Jack noticed Logan wasn't watching. He looked over at him.

"...What?"

[logan_echolls]

"Nothing, sorry," Logan replied, looking away.

"You look like you wanted to say something," he said, reaching for the buttons to pause the movie.

[logan_echolls]

"I didn't," Logan replied. "I was just looking at you."

[im_torchwood]

"Oh," he said, curious about what Logan might have thought. But he wasn't going to ask.

[logan_echolls]

"You said I was younger when you met him. ...How much younger?" he asked.

[im_torchwood]

"I think you were eighteen when we first met," he said. "I was a lot younger then, too."

[logan_echolls]

"I was a different man then," Logan replied.

[im_torchwood]

Jack's lips curved into a half smile.

"Yeah, you were. Wild little shit."

[logan_echolls]

"Those days are behind me," Logan said quietly. "I've worked really hard to- To just not be that guy."

[im_torchwood]

"I know," Jack nodded. "I see it in you now. You became amazing. I knew you would," he added softly.

[logan_echolls]

"So you understand I wouldn't want to regress. Ihat whatever I was like when you knew me, I'm not trying to go back there. I like who I've become. I'm proud of what I became," Logan said softly.

Jack took a slow breath and sighed with relief.

"Yeah," he nodded. "Good. Because I've learned a lot over the years and I realized that I was a really shitty husband."

[logan_echolls]

"Well that makes two of us," Logan replied, lifting his bottle up in toast, then taking a drink.

The pizza came eventually, but Logan only ate a couple slices, clearly minding his carbs. It was getting late though, and eventually they ran out of shitty old westerns to watch.

"I know you said you don't sleep, but- You can stay, if you want."

"You sure?" he asked, his tongue rolling along his bottom lip. "I'd like to."

[logan_echolls]

"I'm not, but- Being sure hasn't gotten me anywhere lately," Logan replied.

Jack nodded at that and rose from the couch.

"Me either," he agreed, moving closer.

[logan_echolls]

Logan remained still, watching Jack approach.

"The bedroom's just through there," he said, pointing.

Jack lead the way through the door. He sat on the edge of the bed to take his boots off.

"Good bed," he noted, sort of unsure of what to say.

[logan_echolls]

"No it isn't," Logan replied with an awkward laugh, watching Jack remove his boots.

"When I sleep, I sleep on the floor. Trust me, it's a nice bed," he told him. He hesitated a moment, then took off his suspenders and undid his belt.
