Jack - Play, then Work

He was never going to get used to this. It wasn't as if they spent all their time together, this was still new after all, but they spent enough time that waking up in Jack's fucking hobbit hole happened more than Logan liked.

"You need a real bed. And a real bedroom. ...And sheets that don't date back to World War One," he complained, rubbing his face as he sat up and turned on the light.

"Nope, all on you," he teased. Before he joined Logan he got a bottle of water.

"You've been playing your game?" he asked, nodding to the hold screen.

"I was playing PUBG, but after a million losses I gave up and started playing Destiny. I'm shit at both," Logan snorted.

"I'm shit at all of them," he said. "If I want to die over and over, I'll just go...nevermind."

Logan looked over at that, frowning.

"No death, even if you come back- No death, Jack," he said softly.

"I do try very hard to avoid it," he pointed out.

[logan_echolls]

"Yeah, well- Try harder. I want you whole, okay?" Logan said quietly, letting his soft underbelly show a little.

"I've got a good reason to not be reckless now, huh?" Jack replied, leaning in to kiss Logan's cheek.

[logan_echolls]

"Sap," Logan accused, though it was obvious he was touched by the sentiment.

"So, we're here, we're relatively free- We should do all the shit we said we wanted to do. Normal dates, traveling... I don't know what else," he admitted, pulling his feet up on the couch and settling into the corner of the sofa with a fresh slice of pizza.

"I haven't dated anyone in so long," he said, putting a second of thought into it. He'd been seeing Ianto, but they never had what he'd call a proper date. And Victoria before Alice was born. So forty years prior...

"Movies would be nice," he said once he snapped out of the memory.

Logan noticed the look, but knew better than to ask. Jack talked about things in his own time, he always had.

"No beach vacations though. We're so done with those for a while," Logan said, trying to lighten the mood.

"But I do love to watch you surf," Jack smiled.

[logan_echolls]

"I like watching you tan without getting lines," Logan shot back with a smirk.

"That's nothing that's going to happen in London, " he chuckled.

"So where then. Pick a place," he offered.

[logan_echolls]

Logan seemed to think about it then shrugged. "What about Japan?" he asked.

[im_torchwood]

"Japan it is," Jack replied. "But unlike Christmas, we'll actually plan it. Spend, what, two weeks there? Hell, maybe longer. We could go to Torchwood Eight in Kyoto."

Jack's idea of a holiday didn't sound very...holiday.

"Vacation, captain, not a business trip," Logan grinned.

"Vacation, right," he nodded. But, being himself, he didn't put the idea entirely out of his mind. "Any reason? Or do you just like Japan?" he asked.

[logan_echolls]

"Just seemed far away," Logan shrugged.

[im_torchwood]

"That, it is," he nodded. "There's this temple on Okinawa that might be the most peaceful place I've ever been to," he added, the memory softening his tone.

"Do they sell anime girl pillows though?" Logan quipped.

[im_torchwood]

"Not at the temple...but if you need a Pokemon sex doll we can probably find you one," he shot back.

[logan_echolls]

"Can't wait to bring that through customs," Logan snorted.

Jack laughed loud and long at the very thought. When it faded away, Jack was left smiling at Logan.

"Maybe we can order one off Amazon and save some poor customs agent's day."

"And it's not even my birthday," Logan quipped.

Jack shook his head and rolled his eyes. He'd missed Logan's wit more than he'd realized.

"Maybe I don't want to know what's going on with you," he said. Maybe he should just be happy with it for now and not worry about why or how.
