Jack - Play, then Work

He was never going to get used to this. It wasn't as if they spent all their time together, this was still new after all, but they spent enough time that waking up in Jack's fucking hobbit hole happened more than Logan liked.

"You need a real bed. And a real bedroom. ...And sheets that don't date back to World War One," he complained, rubbing his face as he sat up and turned on the light.

"Thank god for that. Maybe you'll be that open minded when I bring my wasp friend home," he teased, back to Logan so the man couldn't see how much Jack had amused himself.

"Gross," Logan replied, pulling a face. "I can't think of anyone I want to have a threesome with less."

Jack laughed like he was a teenage boy. He had, of course, been joking. He hadn't seen that kind of alien anywhere on this side of the galaxy.

"Cmere," he said, offering his hand.

Logan raised a brow, then shrugged and took the offered hand.

Jack dragged him to the exam table and had him stand there, then he pulled out a device and ran it up and down in front of Logan.

There was no reading at all. The device may as well have been scanning a wall.

"Weird"

"Not what a guy wants to hear when you're scanning him, Jack," Logan replied, watching the other man as he worked. "What's it saying?"

Jack seemed so confident when he worked- It was a confidence younger Logan envied. He wanted that. He wanted to carry himself the way Jack did.

"This one doesn't say anything," he said, showing Logan the screen. "And all that tells me is that this isn't temporal."

[logan_echolls]

"Okay, well, I don't think I know what that means, but cool," Logan replied. "I mean, the shift was physical and mental, but what if it wasn't caused by an outside force, what if it was an internal shift, triggered by an external force?" Logan suggested, pausing and then leaning in as he pretended to whisper.

"I'm implying it's your fault, FYI."

"My fault?" he replied. He hadn't thought of that. That changed a lot.

He grabbed a pen light and flashed it into Logan's eyes.

Logan squinted a little, the light really bothering him.

Again, there was nothing to find.

"Why don't you get undressed," he said, moving away to get some different tech.

[logan_echolls]

"Right," Logan replied. "No flowers first?"

He did undress though, peeling his clothes off and dumping them in the corner.

He grabbed another device, this one with a couple wires that ended in sticky pads. But when he turned Logan was bare and that was...distracting.

He looked like a man dying of thirst.

Logan didn't seem to notice that. He was too busy being a bit awkward, half covering himself while also doing his best to look as though he didn't care that he was naked.

"You want a gown? You look cold," he said, trying to make this a little more bearable.

[logan_echolls]

"I'm fine, can we just get on with it?" Logan asked awkwardly.

Jack stuck the pads to Logan's temples and stared at the screen.

"Vitals are steady, brain is good. Heart's good."

He read on a bit.

"Yeah...this is all a lot of nothing."

"I mean, I know it's average, but I think it qualifies as something" Logan quipped.

Jack looked up from the screen from beneath his lashes. A slow smile curved his lips.

"Oh yeah...definitely something," he replied flirtatiously.

Logan snorted a laugh, then rolled his eyes.

"Anything else you want a good look at?"

"Actually, yeah. Stand up straight and let me look at your hip," he said.

[logan_echolls]

"My hip?" Logan asked, looking puzzled and straightening up.

Jack reached to touch where the tattoo had been. He really shouldn't hope, yet part of him did.

Logan had no memory of that and seemed puzzled, though he invited the touch anyway.

"What? What is it?" he asked, looking confused.

"It's...remarkable," Jack said. He looked up at Logan and he was clearly puzzling something out. Some memories, mixed memories, different body, definitely younger, but if he'd been direct from the island the tattoo would have been there.

He looked into Logan's eyes and shook his head.

"I have absolutely no ideas on this. None. And I'm so used to being dicked around between the island and the Doctor and Torchwood and this mist bullshit that all I can think is 'huh. weird.' and then just carry on. And that can't be the right reaction," he said.
