Jack - Play, then Work

He was never going to get used to this. It wasn't as if they spent all their time together, this was still new after all, but they spent enough time that waking up in Jack's fucking hobbit hole happened more than Logan liked.

"You need a real bed. And a real bedroom. ...And sheets that don't date back to World War One," he complained, rubbing his face as he sat up and turned on the light.

"God, I've missed you," Jack said when Logan snorted. It shouldn't have even been a ting but Jack found he'd even missed how Logan could breathe.

"I missed you too, ...I think. Time is all fucked up in my head still," he confessed.

"That's disconcerting," Jack said. "Maybe, if nothing else, you should go back to bed and just kind of...adjust."

[logan_echolls]

"I dunno, I feel okay, but it's like- I don't know, I guess it's like I'm remembering two lives and my brain's trying to stitch them into one," Logan admitted. "I don't know if sleep is going to cure that."

"Sounds like the kind of temporal disconnect that drives a lot of people insane," Jack muttered to himself.

[logan_echolls]

"...Yeah, no, great seed to plant there, Jack. Thanks," Logan replied, frowning. "I'm not going insane, I'm just- I don't know. Sorting it all out, I guess."

Jack turned a corner, then another,and they were headed back to the hub.

"I don't mean it like that. I was thinking of people who fell through the rift in Cardiff," he explained.

Logan was still frowning, but he let it be for now. For once he wasn't looking for a fight.

Jack finished off his food, crumpled the paper, and shoved it in the bag.

"I think you're right. About the scans. They won't show anything," he finally said.

[logan_echolls]

"You don't want to strap me to a table and have a poke around? Damn, there goes my afternoon," Logan pretended to sigh.

"Oh, we can still do that," he grinned.

[logan_echolls]

Logan snorted a laugh, then leaned over and kissed Jack's cheek.

"Such a romantic," he quipped.

"I really am," he agreed with a laugh.

[logan_echolls]

"You want to stop at the candy store too? Get a little weird and nostalgic?" Logan teased.

"Nice to see your still a pervert," he said. "I can't even look at lollies anymore."

[logan_echolls]

Logan laughed brightly, practically cackling. "It's why you love me, Captain."

Jack looked over, his smile bright and warm.

"It's exactly why I love you," he said.

[logan_echolls]

"You know, you told me if we ever got of that island you'd show me the universe. I'm going to hold you to that," Logan said after a beat.

[im_torchwood]

"You gonna hold me to that?" he asked. "Okay, so we'll have to get a ship first. That might take some time..."

[logan_echolls]

"Time is something we've got," Logan assured him.

[im_torchwood]

"That's true," he said. "And who knows, maybe we've already gone through all of this before once or twice already..."

Wouldn't that be horrifying.

[logan_echolls]

"Way to look on the bright side," Logan replied. "Jesus, I forgot what a downer you can be."

"You're a downer. I'm a delight," Jack shot back.

[logan_echolls]

"I'm a jackass, not a downer, get it right, captain," Logan smirked.

[im_torchwood]

"My favorite jackass," Jack smiled.

It wasn't long before they were back, stomachs full and nothing accomplished.
