Sitting in the boarding area, Logan looked out one of the large windows, watching as planes took off and landed. In a way leaving London felt wrong- As though he was taking a time out from serving his sentence. Though working for Torchwood often felt the same way. He'd given up so much when he'd left America, convinced that it was for the greater good, and now- Now it seemed as though it had all been for nothing. Just one more fuck up in a long line of fuck ups.

He took solace in the idea that at least with Torchwood he stood more of a chance accomplishing what he'd come here to do, but that didn't really make it easier.

Glancing over at Jack, he hesitated slightly before speaking up. "What happens if there's no answers. No solutions?" he asked quietly.

Logan always slept in when he could, but he eventually gave into the sunlight and carefully untangled himself from Jack. Groggy and a little hung over, he rubbed his face and headed for the shower, certain that Jack must still be asleep.

Jack had gotten as far as dozing and just starting to dream. But when Logan got up and he lost his warmth, Jack was right back fully awake.

When the water began to run he got up and went to the phone, ordering up a greasy hangover cure of a breakfast, some good strong coffee, and some pills. Logan's head had to be killing him.

Then he got dressed and sat, as if he'd never been to bed in the first place.

"What'chu got for me, Twitter?" he asked his phone, calling up the app.

His head felt too big and everything tasted like sand, but Logan wasn't doing too poorly when he finally emerged from the bathroom.

"That toothpaste tastes like garbage," he complained. "I can't find mine though," he admitted as he sat down at the table and looked out the window. "You'd think being in the Navy would have kicked that rich kid shit right out of me, but I still buy this stupid expensive toothpaste my mom used to buy me," he admitted.

"Gotta have little luxuries. I'm sure good toothpaste is worth it," Jack replied without looking up. He was tracking a hashtag about good old Boris.

"Yeah, I dunno, I guess," Logan replied, shrugging one shoulder. Unlike Jack, he was in no rush to look at his phone. He was kind of enjoying being unplugged.

"Breakfast is on its way," he announced, again without looking up. "Coffee, and I wasn't sure what else so Ii just ordered a bunch a la carte."

"Sounds good," Logan said, reaching across the table and taking Jack's phone.

"We're on vacation, Captain," he said, tossing the phone onto the bed. "No Twitter."

"Oh, come on," Jack protested. "Something could happen. And I'd miss it."

[logan_echolls]

"So what?" Logan replied, in full 'who cares' mode now. "Look, let's do something you want to do today. You want to take some boring tour? We'll do it. You want to sleep on the beach? I'll turn you over so you don't burn," he laughed.

Jack forgot his phone and looked at Logan. What he wanted to do. Well, now, that was dangerous.

"Let's explore," he said. "Maybe we can find a private beach."

[logan_echolls]

"Sure," Logan shrugged. "Whatever you want to do, let's just do it. We'll have breakfast and then head out."

"Really? I mean, are you sure? It might mean hiking through the jungle," he hedged.

"I can handle it, Jack," Logan smiled. "Don't worry about me."

Jack smiled warmly in return.

"Okay," he nodded. There was a knock at the door and a server rolled in a tray with a selection of breakfast dishes, most of which was either fried, covered in cheese, or cripsed from fat. And the one that was red smelled awfully spicy. "Dig in."

Sober, Logan took more care with what he was eating, picking at the slightly healthier options.

"We could rent a boat if you wanted," he said thoughtfully.

The words, 'We'll never make it past the reef', were right on the tip of his tongue. But this was the wrong island and the wrong time and a completely different Logan.

Jack realized he needed to snap out of it.

"A boat is a good idea."

Logan smiled then, warm and reassuring- A smile he'd never offered people in his youth except on very rare occasions.

"You any good at sailing?" he asked.

"I'm not bad. How are your skills, Navy boy?" he asked, choosing some bacon from the cart.

[logan_echolls]

"Not as sharp as my piloting, but I can get by," Logan laughed, helping himself to more eggs.

"God, I'd love to fly with you," he said, smiling at the very thought. He'd read Logan's file and knew academically what sort of pilot he was...but a file was one thing and getting hands on something else entirely.

[logan_echolls]

"Yeah? I'll take you up sometime if you want. I bet it's not too hard to rent a plane," Logan shrugged, offering a smile.

"Okay, one adventure at a time," Jack chuckled.

Logan held his hands up and laughed. "Just an offer, Jack," he assured him.

"One I will absolutely take you up on," he promised. There was a momen where it looked like he might reach for more bacon, but instead he leaned and stretched and grabbed his phone.

"I need to find a boat rental place. Finish eating."

"Yes sir," Logan replied, pretending to salute and snorting a laugh.
